Why use Irrigation Ollas?
Ollas are non-sealed terracotta jars that are buried next to plants and crops for irrigation
Ollas are filled with water, and plants slowly receive hydration from inside the pot due to pressure that the roots create around the outside. The plant takes only the amount of water it needs to have healthy growth.
It has been demonstrated that Ollas irrigation saves at least 40% or more on water usage over the best water irrigation systems available, including drip irrigation
This awesome technology has been used by farmers for millennium, at least 4,000 years in Africa and Asia
We are sure this technology will make a crucial come back in the years to come, especially now that global warming is destabilizing the environment around the planet.

Things You Need to Know About How to Use Your Olla
- Bury your olla as much as possible. You need at least 5" of soil underneath it. Each olla has an irrigation area of 36" in diameter. This information may help you plan ahead the size of your Garden.
- Clean once per season with water and a little bit of white vinegar with an old toothbrush to remove minerals.
- Do not place your olla near woody roots, as these roots will compete for water and crush the olla.
- Maintain water in the olla all times while buried, a minimum of half-filled.
- No, we do not know how long they will last, or how often they need to be refilled, as it depends on the type of soil, crop, season, or elevation of your location.
- Yes, we will love photos of your before and after gardens if you can share them with us.
